Greetings Family and Friends of BWS,
The 2010-2011 school year has come to a close, and what a year it's been! Our inaugural class, many of whose members joined us when they were 4 years old, is preparing to enter 2nd grade. Watching them blossom this year has been a constant reminder of what the Walker School is all about. The boys have experienced a lot this year, including visiting the White House, singing at the National Press Club and playing an intra-squad scrimmage at half-time of a St. Albans varsity lacrosse game. What I'll remember most, however, is a first grader whose reading proficiency in September was such that he struggled to string a few basic words together, but who recently came to my office to proudly and confidently read me a story that he had written in class. Small victories are the bricks that form the solid foundation that will allow our students to reach their full potential. Thanks for being a part of this glorious work!
